The world needs diverse voices creating the stories we see! That means YOU. But how do you do it?
Through a series of four panel discussions, we will discuss the process of self producing work at varying stages of development and with different resources available. We’ll start with a general discussion for the first panel, then go more in depth on specific topics during the others.
Not a disabled creative, but still curious? Come join us! The advice is universal with accessibility as a priority.
PANELS OFFERED
Panel #1: So You’ve Decided To Produce Your Own Work. Now What? – Tuesday May 23rd
You have an idea. You’ve spent hours agonizing over whether or not it’s good enough to produce and you’re finally convinced it is, but you have no idea where to start. During this discussion we hear from a panel of Chronically Ill, Neurodivergent, and Disabled creatives who have been there and who share exactly how they made it work.
Panel #2: So You Wanna Produce Your Project, But You’ve Got No Budget. – Tuesday June 6th
You have a script, but you don’t have the resources to put on a large scale production. What do you do? During this discussion our speakers share how they produced their projects with little (think $100 or less) to no money or resources available to them. We hear from folks who adapted their original idea to work with the resources they had, as well as folks who created their projects with the resources they had available to them in mind.
Panel #3: Building Your Team – Tuesday June 20th
You have a script. You’re ready to produce it. You know you need help, but you’re nervous about bringing on others and not having sole control of your baby anymore. During this discussion we hear from panelists about what it was like building a creative team, how they choose who they work with, when they knew they had found the right people, and what to consider when searching for your team.
Panel #4: So You’ve Managed To Secure A Little Funding, Contracts & Unions – July 11th.
So you’re producing a project with a union actor and a micro budget. In this discussion, we hear from folks who have secured funding through grants, fundraising, or self funding and about the process of applying for SAG/AFTRA or AEA actors to be involved in their project.
